This organization has shown professionalism and etiquette at all times. I also found that AIKI-IKD-SA is extremely accommodating to kids on the spectrum. Will definitely recommend this organization if you're looking for discipline, fun, socializing and interacting with members within the organization."
What makes this journey even more special is how dedicated she has become. I have never seen her enjoy any sport before — this is the first time she has found something she truly loves. She looks forward to every class, counts down the days, and walks in with so much excitement and motivation.
The team behind AIKI-AID are some of the most friendly, supportive, and genuinely caring people I’ve ever met. They create an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired.
I can’t wait to see how much more my daughter will achieve on this journey. Thank you for making such an incredible impact on her life — we appreciate you more than words can say."
When Covid-19 brought uncertainty and disruption, the resilience and dedication of both the students and the Sensei were remarkable as training continued seamlessly via Zoom.
At 13 years old, my son will be attempting his Black Belt. We would like to place on record our deepest appreciation to all the Sensei and senior students for the vital role they have played in Theslin’s growth and development."
My Younger Son’s Experience (Malik) For my younger son, the dojo has been a place of joy and discovery. At his age, karate has taught him respect, focus, and perseverance. The simple rituals of bowing, keeping his uniform neat, and practicing kata have instilled discipline that extends beyond the dojo into his schoolwork and home life.
He has gained confidence in himself, learning that progress comes through effort and patience. The dojo has nurtured his curiosity and given him a safe, structured environment to grow both physically and emotionally while allowing him to get some physical exercise.
My Older Son’s Experience (Mahan):
For my teenage son, the dojo has been more than just a training ground — it has been a refuge from the heavy pressure’s society places on young people today. Teenagers are constantly navigating academic expectations, peer influence, and the overwhelming presence of social media.
These pressures can weigh heavily, often leading to stress, insecurity, or a loss of direction. Karate has provided him with balance and resilience. Through sparring, kata, and grading challenges, he has learned to face difficulties head‑on, to manage stress, and to build confidence in his own abilities.
The dojo has taught him that true strength lies in character — in humility, respect, and perseverance — rather than in outward appearances or popularity. These lessons have helped him stand taller, not just physically but in spirit, with a clearer sense of identity and integrity.
He has shown great strides of a well-balanced mind and body and is now goal driven to improve in all areas of his life. Both Mahan and Malik have found a second family at the dojo. They have built friendships across ages and backgrounds, learning teamwork, patience, and mutual respect.
The instructors have been role models, guiding them not only in martial arts but in life values that will serve them well into adulthood.
As a parent, I am proud of the progress both my sons have made over the past two years.
For my younger son, karate has sparked joy and discipline; for my teenager, it has provided strength and grounding against the pressures of school and friends. Together, their journeys reflect how karate is not just about physical training, but about shaping character, resilience, and respect.I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Sensei Denzil and the instructors for the positive influence they have had on my children’s lives."
Growing up through karate taught me how to stay centred, how to push through challenges, and how to find strength even on the days I felt weak. It became more than a sport, it became an outlet and a grounding force.
Along this journey, I’ve been blessed with achievements that I hold close to my heart: earning my South African colours, my KZN colours, and representing my country at a world tournament in Barbados, an experience that widened my perspective and deepened my love for karate.
Training with Shihan Frank-Won-A-Tai, founder of International Karate Daigaku, has been an incredible honour, and his teachings have guided me with discipline and respect for the art.
I am also especially grateful for the impact of Shihan Denzil Govender, founder of IKDSA, whose leadership, mentorship, and belief in me have shaped my growth on the dojo floor.
His guidance has pushed me to refine not only my technique but my mind set and character as well. Now, as a First Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate, I look back at my journey with gratitude.
Karate has taught me balance, resilience, and humility, it has truly helped me become the person I am today."
He has achieved a lot in Karate. Their way of teaching kids is truly amazing, the kids learn so quick and fast. One could never go wrong to get their kids enrolled with this karate school.
In Tongaat we are grateful to have 3 weekly sessions if your child misses one day, they can always join another during the week with not a lesson being missed and this is cost effective. In a short space of time you will see the difference in a child's performance in Karate.I am very grateful for having Sensei Wendy and Sensei Denzil doing an excellent job with the kids in the Tongaat area.
Thank you for opening your branches in our area and giving our kids an opportunity in the world of karate. A job well done."
